Identity and address
A valid passport or European national ID document. Your NIE may also be required for the registration file; it is an identification number, not a substitute for your passport or ID and not proof of residence. We confirm the identity and address evidence required for your case.
Vehicle registration documents
Keep the original registration documents from the country of registration. If you have recently bought the car, keep the invoice or purchase contract too.
Technical documents
Send the COC if you have it. If not, a duplicate COC, Ficha Reducida or another homologation route may be appropriate. We check the vehicle before confirming the technical requirements.
If you are moving to Tenerife
Evidence of your previous residence, the dates of your move, and your ownership and use of the vehicle may be needed. Exemption requirements go beyond simply moving; deadlines and supporting documents matter.
Arrival and import paperwork
Keep ferry or shipping records and any import declaration or customs documents already issued. Tell us when the vehicle arrived, or when you plan to bring it.

Organise the file by purpose
Keep four groups: identity and address; ownership and foreign registration; technical approval; and arrival, tax and exemption evidence. This makes it easier to see which stage is ready and what still blocks progress.
Before sending originals
Start with clear copies for the initial review. Include every page of the foreign registration document and legible VIN details. We explain which originals are required and where they will be needed. Do not discard export or transport documents after arrival.
If the car is already in Tenerife
Provide the actual arrival date, current registration/insurance status and any customs or ITV documents already issued. A vehicle that has been here for some time may require a different deadline or compliance review from one that has just arrived.
